Just a Thought: Let's celebrate the mother who is able to and chooses to be home with her children. Why do we need to celebrate mothers who 'do it all' in the words of the world? I am seeing headlines regarding mother's who wish they didn't stay home, because they can't get back into their career or I'm seeing praises to the mother's who are working in an unheard of position for a woman in the business world while with young children. Why not celebrate the mother's who have this capability to be the CEO of the biggest company in the nation . . . but who CHOOSE to stay home with their children? I understand there are mothers who can't 'choose' to work but must...but have the greatest desires to stay home. I am not judging, I am just saying let's celebrate mothers who live close to the Lord and are doing everything they can to fulfill their role here on this earth.

Judging

Being a new mother has definitly open my eyes about being judgemental and being judged. We shouldn't judge. I know I do have a lot to improve on, especially in the realm of judging. Here is a nice quote:

"There is no one perfect way to be a good mother. Each situation is unique. Each mother has different challenges, different skills and abilities, and certainly different children. The choice is different and unique for each mother and each family. What matters is that a mother loves her children deeply." - M. Russel Ballard

I'm Getting Married!!!!!! YAHOO!

I'm getting married to a wonderful man! Andrew Charles Squires!

Andrew moved into the YSA ward about a year ago. I instantly knew I wanted to get to know him! So little by little by little we would interact. I mean LITTLE by LITTLE! We went on a double date during the summer to a rodeo . . . at least I THINK it was a date. Then FINALLY in October Andrew called and asked me out . . . and it just went from there! Then on March 30th Andrew proposed to me! It was a wonderful proposal! Here is excerpt from an email describing the actual proposal:

Friday, March 30th, "The Proposal":

Friday after work Andrew Squires brought me dinner . . . Panda Express Orange Chicken and egg rolls. We sat and ate at the kitchen table and just enjoyed ourselves. Andrew seemed so happy and smiley. When we were done eating . . . he said he had left the dessert in his truck. So he left to go get the dessert . Meanwhile I was thinking oh I hope it isn't ice cream and he forgot about it! He came back in and told me to close my eyes. So I did. This is when I 'suspected' that something was up. When I opened my eyes there was a small round cake in front of me with the words on it, "Will You Merry Me?". He then got on one knee and asked me to marry him! He had a big bundle of beautiful red roses and he pulled out a beautiful ring! It was such a wonderful moment, I loved every aspect of "The Proposal". Even the misspelled cake! It made it all the better! ;) I also really loved that I had no idea he would ask me so soon! I guess you might say I was mentally prepared to have to wait a while! But I am so GLAD and HAPPY I don't!

Changes

So you might say the last three weeks or so have been interesting:

1. I was released as Relief Society President. I was Relief Society President in a Young Single Adult Ward for about 15 months. Looking back you can say that I really enjoyed having a ‘reason’ to get to know the sisters in the ward, and you could say that my patience greatly increased (well I hope it did at least). Nevertheless, I was WAY WAY WAY WAY excited to be released. In fact it was a JOYOUS Sunday. But then all of a sudden the next day . . . I felt sad. I was no longer needed! What was I to do? Yes, I am still trying to figure that one out. But I still am totally enjoying an end to the meetings, phone calls, meetings. . . . and meetings. I love just being able to go to church to be at church for the time being anyway.

2. On Wednesday, September 28th, I was going home to Oregon to visit my mom and dad for the weekend. I was so excited for a reprieve! But before getting to the airport my dad called to let me know that my grandma Rasmussen had passed away. So the weekend turned out to be way different than expected. I had some very special moments and I was so grateful to be home with my mom during that time. I hope she was glad I was there. My brothers and sisters ALL came to town for her funeral. This was the first time in five years that we all were together. They mostly came without their spouses and children. They began arriving on Saturday. Her funeral was on Tuesday. Her passing has affected me in a surprising way you might say . . . I have felt a deep sadness although I know she is pain free now and have been reunited with her parents and sister in the spirit world. I also cherish the 20-30 minutes I had with her back in June. It was just me and her. No one else was there. I wheeled her around her care center and talked with her. When I came back home to Idaho I got home and my best friend had left a wonderful card for me, which was so comforting.

My family: Mom, Dad, and all of us eight kids. This was taken after my grandma's funeral.
